BOLTON WANDERERS v TORONTO FC – ROSTER, LIVE STREAM

United States international Stuart Holden has joined his Bolton Wanderers teammates in Toronto ahead of the clubs pre-season match with Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC.

Holden had been given time off after his World Cup duty with the United States, but after speaking with Bolton manager Owen Coyle, he decided to meet the team in Canada from his time off with his family in Houston.

“The gaffer gave me the option of coming out here or meeting the squad back in England with Chungy (Korea Republic midfielder Lee Chung-Yong, who also has time off in the wake of the World Cup)  but for me, being from the US, I really wanted to finish off the tour with the guys and get back amongst it,” Holden told the Bolton News. “I wanted to make a stand and show I’m committed to this season.”

Familiar with the Canadian side from his time in MLS with the Houston Dynamo, the 24-year-old had nothing but praise for Toronto and Toronto FC.

“Toronto are a really well-supported team. They’re fairly young and since they have been in the league had some mixed results, but this year is the best they have done. The stadium is probably the second to Seattle in MLS in terms of atmosphere.”

Will Holden contribute after joining the squad so late before the match?

“I’d love to play a part although I haven’t had a long chat with the gaffer about it yet. I’ll only have one day of training under my belt, so if he chooses to leave me out, that’s his decision.”

The match, the 2010 edition of the Carlsburg Cup which annually pits Toronto FC against an International opponent, is scheduled to kickoff Wednesday Night at 7:30pm ET from BMO Field.

Herculez Gomez – CF Pachuca

The most glaring was the omission of Brian Ching. An established, experience striker, Ching was healthy and performing well in camp, but the decision was to go with Findley who is neither established nor experienced at this level. Though recovering from hamstring problems, Ching looked a bright spot in the Tuesday night match against the Czech Republic.

Findley is a quality player and can olnly get experience at the top level by playing at the top level. He has, no doubt, been brought in to replace some of the speed the team lost when it lost Charlie Davies
