FIRE TO ANNOUNCE DP – MEXICAN INTERNATIONAL NERY CASTILLO?

FIRE SIGN DP – MEXICAN INTERNATIONAL NERY CASTILLO

The Chicago Fire have announced the Designated Player signing of  Mexican International Nery Castillo who has been negotiating with Greek side Olympiacos, where he played from 2000-2007.

The 26-year-old Castillo, who played at Manchester City in 2008 as part of a loan deal; with his then club Shakhtar Donetsk, is a much more versatile player than Chautemoc Blanco.  Castillo can play up front, on the wing or can play an attacking role out of the midfield.

Castillo may be the answer to the Fire’s problems in terms of attack, but one can only hope that Carlos de los Cabos and Frank Klopas now turn their sights toward some defensive help.

The designated player announcement was made Saturday between Games 1 and 2 of the SuperLiga double header at Toyota Park.
