US OPEN CUP UPDATE : ROUND THREE DETAILS ANNOUNCED

US Soccer announced details regarding Round Three of the 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup just days after Round One concluded.

Eight Major League Soccer teams will enter the tournament in the Third Round, joining the winners of the Round Two matches which all take place next Tuesday, June 22.

The winner of the Carolina battle between the NASL Carolina RailHawks and Charleston Battery of USL-2 will be rewarded with a trip to Toyota Park to take on four-time US Open Cup Champions Chicago Fire.

The Columbus Crew will host either NASL team Rochester Rhinos, a team that in 1999 became the only non MLS team to win the US Open Cup in the MLS era, or USL-2 side Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Crew Stadium.

Five of the Eight matches in Round Three will see the MLS teams hosting with three of those five matches being held at alternate venues to the teams usual homes.

Chivas USA will host either the NASL Austin Aztex or USASA side Arizona Sahuaros at Cal State-Fullerton in Fullerton CA.

NASL sides Tampa Bay Rowdies and Miami FC will battle for Sunshine State bragging rights as well as a trip to Houston to take on the Dynamo at Carl Lewis Track Stadium.

DC United will host the winner of the all USL-2battle between Richmond Kickers and local rival Real Maryland at George Mason University in nearby Fairfax Virginia.

Three of the Round Three matchups will have to wait until after Round Two is completed before the venues will be decided.

New York Red Bull will either host PDL side Long Island Rough Riders or travel to Harrisburg to meet the USL-2 club.

Likewise, the LA Galaxy will either travel to Blaine Minnesota to take on NSC Minnesota or host AC St. Louis at the Home Depot Center.

Finally, defending champion Seattle Sounders will travel to either face either Seattle area Kitsap Pumas of the PDL at Bremerton Memorial Stadium or to longtime Pacific Northwest rival and future MLS side Portland Timbers at PGE Park.
