REAL MADRID TO OFFER $162 MILLION FOR ROONEY, GERRARD

The Galacticos look poised to return to the European scene if reports regarding a double swoop for Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard are to be believed.

Gerrard has been targeted by Jose Mourinho’s side after a particularly frustrating season at Liverpool which saw the Anfield club finished in seventh place and thus well out of a Champions League spot.

A report in the Daily Star, however, asserts that Real are now also contemplating a move for Manchester United star Wayne Rooney. Mourinho admitted he would like to coach Rooney, and president Florentino Perez is prepared to make his dream come true. It is believed Madrid would spend $44 million on Gerrard and $117 million on Rooney, which would equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s record transfer fee.

Daily Star goes on to suggest that Madrid will ask Ronaldo to woo Rooney to make the jump to the Bernabeu. The pair were teammates at United for five years.

GERMAN STAR ON THE RISE, IS BIDDING WAR NEXT?

Mesut Ozil’s star is rising fast and Chelsea is the most recent team to try swinging from it.

Ozil, fresh off a superb performance for Germany in a 4-0 trouncing of Australia at the World Cup, is already being pursued by Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Werder Bremen midfielder still has a year left on his contract, but Arsenal have their eye on the 21-year-old playmaker as an insurance plan for the potential move of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona. Likewise, Chelsea are looking for a replacement to Michael Ballack.

Ozil’s estimated value is $30 million.

CHELSEA OFFER TO TRIPLE REAL MADRID STARS WAGES

Chelsea have shocked Real Madrid by tempting defender Sergio Ramos $12 million salary to move to Stamford Bridge, according to Sport. The figure would triple the Spanish Internationals wages.

Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa is out with a long-term knee injury, and Carlo Ancelotti could use a player like Sergio Ramos who has caught the eye of Blues owner Roman Abromovich.

TOURE TO LEAVE BARCA FOR CITY?

Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure may be plotting a move from the Nou Camp before the season begins, according to his agent.

Dimitri Seluk, who represents Toure, claims that the Ivory Coast International may be heading to Manchester City, after after a season of limited playing time with the Spanish Champions.

City already have the services of Toure’s brother Kolo on the books and, according to Seluk, would like to see the pair playing together.

“In a few days we will have the final solution, although I still have to speak with the player,” Seluk told Mundo Deportivo. “I believe Barca prefer this option because they are the ones who offer more money.”

The Catalonian super club is expected to garner at least $30 million for the sale of Toure.
