DC United is the most woeful in Major League Soccer. Win-less and pointless in MLS so far this season, the only thing that could make it worse for United is injuries. Oh, and United have a pile of injuries.

Marc Burch, Dejan Jakovic, Bryan Namoff and Chris Pontius are all out and likely taking the field with knocks are Juan Manuel Pena and Clyde Simms.

DC United couldn’t have anywhere to go but up and certainly the recent acquisitions of Stephen King and Luciano Emilio should help bolster the offense. Anyone that saw 17 year-old Andy Najar play in the Cup last week, knows he is for real and may just be the engine room of the future in the Capitol. Will any of that help United win Wednesday Night on front of their suffering fans and a National TV audience? It might.

Kansas City Wizards thrashed United on opening weekend, but haven’t managed more than a goal a game since. This is no cake walk for KC, they have yet to score an away goal this season and you can bet that the crowd at RFK will be up to inspire its struggling warriors.

What seems to have gone missing for the Wiz? Injuries to Jimmy Conrad and Stephane Auvray don’t help. Peter Vermes’ side  just don’t seem to be clicking the way they did early in the season, and they must feel snakebitten in front of goal, especially after that Kei Kamara miss masterclass last week.

there will be chances in this match that could turn around the fortunes of either club. Look for a tight match with neither side giving much away easy. So a 3-2 affair.

DC: Jamie Moreno. He’ll need to score early a help rally the troops if there is to be a fight put up Wednesday night.

KC: Ryan Smith, if he stays up top and challenges, Josh Wolff and Kamara will have chances.

FANTASY X-FACTOR: Adam Cristman, he really can be a game changer in a match like this.

Emilio will help, and Stephen King is scary good…but will it be enough.
While KC haven’t been on any tears lately (no multi goal games), I still think they are the better team, defensively and offensively.

Jaime is a great player, who will only score on PKs….Unfortunately for DC he is past his prime, and um…slow. I don’t see him making a big difference vs the younger speedy backline of KC.
