FANTASY FALLOUT – CHICAGO FOOTBALL LEAGUE – WEEK 13
Major League Soccer returned to action this weekend with Week 13 of the season amid the turmoil and triumph of the 2010 World Cup. The results are in for Week 13 in the Chicago Football League and there is no change at the top of the table as Waterford United still holds the top spot by 5 points over Kafieen FC.
Just as in Week 12, there was a tie for most points in Week 13 with both Dave Mulvihill’s Chicago Inferno and Alexa Lim’s Dancing Nancies garnering 33 points. The two teams were even tied on goals scored, but the tie-breaker has to favor the Dancing Nancies who had the edge on assists.
Thus the Manager of the Week honors go to Alexa Lim and Dancing Nancies who fielded a well rounded side around the 17 points earned from two Columbus Crew players, including Goalkeeper Will Hesmer and handball artist Guillermo Barros Schellotto. Congratulations to Alexa who has won the Manager of the Week twice in the last three weeks.
The Chicago Inferno manager is kicking himself severely for being a hairs-breadth away from putting in Philadelphia Union’s Sebastian LeToux.
Bet you thought I forgot about Week 12, well I’ve been a bit busy. There is this other tournament around that may one day rival the Chicago Football League in popularity, but I digress. Lets take a look at the stunted Week 12 before we re-embark on the CFL season starting Friday night with week 13.
As was always likely with only four matches being played, there was not a lot of points to be had out there, so it is no surprise that there were two candidates tied for the Manager of the Week award. Both Bill Lim’s Kaffieen FC and Bill Sullivans’s Mighty Wombats garnered 20 points in Week 12, but like the World Cup, we will decide this by Goals Scored.
Thus Bill Lim is the Week 12 Manager of the Week with 4 goals scored to only 2 for Sullivan. Lim has now won the award 3 times in 12 weeks, congrats to Mr. Lim.

The United States won their final World Cup tune-up on home soil Saturday, coming from behind to beat Turkey in front of 55,000 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

“We’re going to be as good as we want to be,” Donovan said. “And if we play the way we’re capable of (more…)
My apologies too you all for the delay in bringing the Fantasy Fallout to the fore. I have been out of town since Thursday and thus was unable to tap into the font that is all things football / soccer. Be assured that I will never again have days off over a weekend and that I will likely never do anything fun or interesting again.
I have yet to see a match from Week 8, but I can safely say that it doesn’t look like i missed much. Quite an underwhelming week as 5 of the 8 matches had ONE goal or LESS in the final scoreline, with a 6th match resulting in a 1-1 scoreline. yikes.
A weekend of blowouts, road victories and goals goals goals in Major League Soccer’s Week 7. Here are the box scores and video highlights of the matches.
Los Angeles proved that they deserve the hype by winning two matches on the road in four days, against two of the Western conferences tougher teams. In the Wednesday match, LA achieved their first ever 3 points at DSG Park, they turned around and gave Seattle their worst ever thumping on Saturday.
DATES SET FOR DC UNITED – REAL SALT LAKE & NEW YORK RED BULL-NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION
Six United States based Major League Soccer teams (Chicago Fire, Chivas USA, Columbus Crew, Houston Dynamo, Los Angeles Galaxy and defending Champions Seattle Sounders) have already qualified for the 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup but there are still two spots up for grabs. Those spots are being contested by the nine remaining US based teams. Last week, New York Red Bull eliminated Philadelphia Union last week and DC United did the same to FC Dallas for the second time in as many years. Highlights of the latter match can be seen here.
